Pastor Michael W. Keyes
Michael William Keyes was born and raised in New Castle Pennsylvania to Samuel Abraham Keyes (Deceased) and Lucy Keyes Mason (Deceased) and is the stepson of Robert L Mason (Deceased). Pastor Keyes is the youngest child of three children and has a brother Ronald Keyes (Susan) and a sister Yvonne Wooten (Clarence, Deceased). Pastor Keyes has been married to his high school sweetheart Tammy Bethune Keyes for 43 years and from that union they have one Daughter Ronni Samantha Keyes who resides in Charlotte NC. Michael attended and graduated from the New Castle Vocational Technical High School in New Castle Pennsylvania. After High School, Michael enlisted in the United States Navy where he served faithfully and proudly for over 20 years. Michael received numerous awards, medals and citations for excellent service. After retiring from the Navy, Michael joined American Funds where he rose through the ranks of leadership into management, and was a faithful employee for over 27 years until his retirement on June 30, 2023.
Michael gained knowledge of the Lord at an early age; he attended the 2nd Baptist Church in New Castle Pennsylvania where he was active as a youth usher and participated in the youth choir. As an adult Michael was led to become a part of the New Hope Baptist Church Family under the tutelage of Doctor E. Ray Cox Senior, where he served as an usher, facilitator of the Ambassadors (Deacons) Ministry and as apart of the Evangelistic Ministry. Under Pastor Cox, Minister Keyes preached his initial sermon and was licensed to preach the Gospel on October 21st, 2012, and was selected as Special Administrative Assistant to the Pastor. Minister Keyes was ordained on June 30, 2019 at the New Hope Baptist Church. Michael is a 2017 graduate of Saint Leo University where he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Religion, and a 2020 graduate from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology @Virginia Union where he holds a Master of Divinity Degree, and is currently enrolled in the School of Theology at Virginia Union pursuing a Doctor of Ministry Degree expected to be completed in 2026. Michael is also a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. Spring 18. Pastor Keyes was installed as the 2nd Pastor in the 53-year history of New Hope Baptist Church on July 23rd, 2023.
